First of all, my intention to make this blog is for writing my "love themed" poems. Later on I think it's expanding to other topics like songs, articles and fashion. However, overall it's just about me, my interest and my thoughts. Hope you can find some inspiration and insight from my blog. Feel free to follow my blog and leave a comment on my posts. Happy reading fellas!
I found this article on http://www.alsintl.com/blog/love-idioms/about love idioms in different language. I think it is so romantic and cute. Maybe you can check it out. :)
Be Sweet
You might have heard the popular idiom, “You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.” It’s a common English phrase that means you can accomplish the most by being sweet — a tactic that makes this an appropriate love idiom.
But German speakers might be familiar with another variation of the phrase: “Wer Bären fangen will, muss sich mit Honig versehen.” The German translation of the love idiom replaces flies with bears, saying, “He who wants to catch bears must have honey.”
Notice Me
When you’re in love from afar, it might seem like the object of your affection will never turn your way. The Japanese have a love idiom to describe that distant figure: “takana no hana.”
The phrase literally means “a flower on a high peak,” which can refer to any faraway or unattainable object. But the expression can also be a love idiom for those who are looking to catch someone’s eye.
I Miss You
There are many ways to say “I miss you” in English, but nothing quite as poetic as the Chinese equivalent. A popular four-character love idiom in Chinese is 一 日三 秋 (yí rì sān qiū), meaning, “One day, three autumns.”
This love idiom illustrates that common sentiment that times seems to slow when you’re missing someone — when one day can feel as long as three years.
I Have a Crush on You
In the US, someone developing an infatuation might say he or she has a “crush.” But in Australia, this love idiom is a little different than its American English counterpart.
If you have a crush in Australia, you might say you’re “cracking onto” someone. This love idiom can mean anything from beginning to flirt with someone to starting to pursue someone seriously.
Even though countries may speak the same language, this regional love idiom proves the crucial point that localizing a message to a target audience is essential for accurate translation.
Love at First Sight
To express the feeling of love at first sight, we might say that we’ve been “shot through the heart” or are hit by “Cupid’s arrow.” But the French translationfor this love idiom is being struck by a “coup de foudre” — a lightning bolt.
I’m in Love
Americans might say they’ve “taken the plunge,” ” fallen head over heels” or “gone crazy” for someone when they’ve fallen in love. In Russian, the love idiom is, “По уши влюбиться” (“po yshi vlubitsya”).
Although it literally translates to “to fall in love up to your ears,” the love idiom means “to fall in love deeply.”
Lately I like to hear the song "The Way I Am" from Ingrid Michaelson. It is a short song, but the lyrics and tune are so catchy. I even made my own version of the song. I changed the lyrics a little bit, to fit my boyfriend. hahaha. Here is the original lyrics:
If you were falling, then I would catch you You need a light, I'd find a match
Cuz I love the way you say good morning And you take me the way I am
If you are chilly, here take my sweater Your head is aching; I'll make it better
Cuz I love the way you call me baby And you take me the way I am
I'd buy you Rogaine when you start losing all your hair Sew on patches to all you tear
Cuz I love you more than I could ever promise And you take me the way I am You take me the way I am You take me the way I am
And this is my version of the song. I have tried to sing this with the original song and it's fit, the only thing I don't change is the sentence "you take me the way I am" :
If you were angry, then I would calm you You feeling cold, I'll make you warm
Cuz I love the way you say it's depend And you take me the way I am
If you are tired, I will massage you Your head is full; I'll make you chill
Cuz I love the way you call me honey And you take me the way I am
I'd buy you new pants when you start adding on your paunch Bring in you stuff when you're lazy
Cuz I love you more than you could ever thinking And you take me the way I am You take me the way I am You take me the way I am
I read about this article from relationshiproadblocks.com that basically writes about modern dating from a male perspective. It says that men have 4 beliefs about modern woman wants and thinks in a dating situation.
Women have changed their attitude and approach to dating. Men believe that women now days want the equality with men, but without taking responsibility for it.
Women crave equal pay checks, but, at what price? Women want to make as much money as men, but they still expect men to pay when they go out.
The independent woman conundrum. Women want to have their freedom only when it's convenient to them. They expect their men to be there when they need him.
What happened to femininity? A lot of men feel that women aren't acting like women anymore. Women has lost their softer and femininity. They have become uncompromising and calculating 21st century counterpart.
What do you think? Is it true? Hmmm from my opinion as a woman, I feel it's kinda offensive towards women. Personally I don't see myself the same, though I have to admit that some women are changing to become like that. Basically it depends on each woman's belief and point of view because what they do will based on her life's principle.
I think for no 1 women just want her partner to respect her and treat her nicely. However, men always as the head of the relationship so he still has to bear the responsibility.
For equal pay checks, I don't think it's wrong for women to have ambition to earn as much as men. If women have the same skills and do the job as good as men, I think it's a fair thing to pay them the same. On the other hand, about expecting men to pay on dating, I don't think all women expect that, except if she has a rich guy.
Next is about being independent. I believe although a woman is really independent, she still needs a man to comfort and protect her, because that's the way God design man and woman, to be in need and helpful for each other. If a woman wants a freedom when it's convinient to her, maybe she is just a selfish girl, so you cannot pick her to be the representative of all women.
Lastly is about femininity. I think this is related with being equal with men. Maybe some women just forget to balance out their equality with her nature to be feminime and subbmisive to men. However, I know for sure that there are still a lot of women who know how to balance out.
